Ever since 2008, Pantone has announced a Color of the Year. Being that 2013 is the Year of the Snake, emerald green is an especially appropriate color to wear this year. The color itself represents luck, heath and wealth, and emerald gems are said to bring the wearer enduring love.

Emerald is also featured in some of the most glamorous, eye-catching jewelry around. Read on for my picks to celebrate the Color of the Year with Fragments!

Celebrate the Year of the Snake!

As you may have heard, 2013 is the year of the snake in the Chinese Zodiac calendar. People born in years of the snake are said to be enigmatic, intuitive, introspective and refined, and snake years are supposed to be full of progress and insight. Since ancient times, snakes have come to represent creation, rebirth, healing and immortality.

In ancient Egypt, snake jewelry symbolized royalty, and in ancient Greece and Rome snake jewelry was worn to ward off evil and heal. In the 1800s, Queen Victoria made serpent jewels popular again by selecting an engagement ring in the shape of an emerald-headed snake, after which it became a symbol of everlasting love.

Today serpent jewelry is the perfect mix of edginess and glamour, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the year of the snake with everything from sweet serpent studs to slithering gold and diamond bangles! Read on to see our favorite snake pieces for 2013.

Let us help you pick out the perfect snake piece to accompany you through 2013–call us at 212-334-9588 to contact our personal shoppers, our visit us at our Manhattan SoHo boutique at 110 Greene Street!

Fragments Celebrates Beth Bernstein’s “My Charmed Life”

Last night we had the pleasure of celebrating friend & editor, Beth Bernstein and her new memoir “My Charmed Life.” Beth read aloud an excerpt of her book about self-purchasing, and how apropos that we were at the Fragments store where we love a good self-purchase! We raffled off a beautiful diamond slice pendant by Vibe’s, enjoyed champagne and delicious French macaroons, and mingled with Beth, our friends and designers.

The night was wonderful and to Beth, we congratulate you on your success! The book is fabulous and we‘re so happy to celebrate you.

Check out some photos from our event below and a very special video by Beth all about her memoir…

Janet

Perfect Pastels

With the weather heating up, we are loving the pastel jewelry trend to keep cool. These pieces are the perfect way to transition from summer days to nights – on the beach, to the office, to a girls night out and everything in between – pastels are a fresh “go to” palette. Layer a variety of subtle colors for a feminine look, or mix soft-hued stones with heavier metals for an edgier feel. So instead of changing your entire wardrobe this season to pale pinks and mint greens, ease into the trend with a pair of lavender earrings!

Check out some of our picks for summer pastels below from designers including Stella Flame, Nava Zahavi, Lena Skadegard, Miguel Ases, Coralia Leets and more!
