Last night was the opening of the Wynwood Walls. It was nothing less than spectacular! It was covered by CNN and all the local stations, a film crew from Berlin, avant Garde arts group from England, and many photographers including the great Martha Cooper.
A piece ran in the NY Times arts section today – it is such a big hit! Many of the artists were there, Ron English, Daze, Retna, Nunka, Aiko! How and Nosm, Christian Awe.
The Wynwood Walls book is selling out and the hard cover will be out shortly. Orders can be taken. The t-shirts are fantastic limited editions only available at the pop up shop at the Walls.
Jeffrey Deitch the director of MOCA LA was there and thrilled with how his early collaboration with Tony has blossomed into a new model for neighborhood revitalization using international street art as a town center. In Jeffrey’s words, he said, “the Wynwood Walls is the outdoor international Museum of the streets”.
I wore a new leather jacket by Yigal Azrouel, harem pants (black of course), a beige lace camisole, and topped it off with a gorgeous statement bib necklace by Anton Hunis in gold and clear shiny rhinestones.
More to come later… I am going to the Miami Beach Convention Center for an early viewing of the main Art exhibit of Art Basel. There are easily a dozen satellite shows throughout the city.
See below for some great images taken this week, and more to come soon!
